Best Buy will be carrying a selection of titles from the library of Limited Run Games according to their newsletter.

Limited Run Games is exactly what it says on the tin: a distributor of games sold in limited runs. Specifically, they produce hard copies of video games that have been out of print or were strictly digital products. These games are only sold in fixed quantities and are never reprinted after the initial pressing.

Typically, customers would only be able to purchase these rarities directly from Limited Run Games. However, they've struck a deal with Best Buy to carry some of their current and future offerings. This won't be a traditional retail arrangement, either; Best Buy will receive a fixed number of copies for their stores. Once those are gone, they're gone for good.

Golf Story and Yooka-Laylee are two of the announced titles that will be available to purchase in Best Buy stores. The retail versions of these titles will have variant cover art to differentiate them from the copies sold to individual customers. (You'll be able to order the variant covers for $0.99 if you'd like.) A third unannounced title will also be part of this first wave of retail releases.

Best Buy won't be carrying every single future offering from this specialty company. Games being purchased for sale in the retail environment will be marked as such, and the lack of any indication will mean that you'll only be able to get it through LRG's website. Those that are making it to Best Buy will be available for purchase at physical store locations and online—right up until they run out.

If you have any concerns not addressed in the newsletter, you can reach out to the distributor by e-mailing them at concerns@limitedrungames.com. In the meantime, you can see what else Limited Run has for sale at their website.

What do you think of Limited Run Games striking a deal with Best Buy? Do you think it hurts the magic of Limited Run's system or does it stay within the spirit of things? Let us know in the comments below!
