TR Member Perks!

TechRaptor is growing on a daily basis, with our Alexa Rank nearing the top 65,000 in the world, daily views consistently increasing, and our articles being picked up from various sources regularly. We have a solid team that produces content on a daily basis, but there’s always room for more people in our big family of Raptors.

There’s a few aspects of TechRaptor that could really use some extra attention, and we know that the right people could help us grow them to great heights as the site itself grows. If you think that one of the below positions fits something you’re interested in, take a look at how to apply at the bottom of this post!

News Specialists

News is the lifeblood of every media outlet, both bringing in views as people seek out information, as well as allowing outlets to cover important information and (in a lot of cases) open up first contact with a developer or company. TechRaptor takes our news very seriously, making an effort to separate fact from opinion using quick takes, and reaching out to sources that should be contacted for information.

Apply if:

  • You keep up with the latest gaming and/or technology news
  • Can work independently to pick what stories you want to cover, or accept assignments from editors
  • Can write 300+ words in a timely manner
  • Want to join a growing team that has immense passion for what it does, and seeks to provide the highest quality content to readers
  • You’re willing to put in the work and write 300+ word articles free of copy paste from any other sources.
  • You want to work with a bad ass team of raptors.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

If you’re interested in writing news for TechRaptor, apply with the subject “News Specialist” and two examples of news writing

Tech Specialists

The vast majority of our content is gaming-related, and we want to complement that with more technology articles! From tech guides, to news and reviews, we’re looking for people who can write about technology, the tech industry, and more.

Apply if:

  • You keep up with the latest in technology, industry news, or gadgets and products
  • You can articulate yourself well without getting too “in the weeds”
  • You can write news, reviews, and guides in a timely fashion
  • You are able to work on your own, picking the stories you feel need to be covered, with assistance from editors where needed
  • You pride yourself on high quality content that informs readers, not misleads.
  • You’re willing to put in the work and write 300+ word articles free of copy paste from any other sources.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

TechRaptor could use more Tech Specialists, so if you’re interested – apply with the subject “Tech Specialist” and two examples of tech writing

Japanese Gaming News Specialists

We have a lot of writers interested in Japanese and Eastern gaming, but we don’t have as much of a focus on that news as we could. So, we’re looking for interested writers who want to write primarily on Japanese gaming news, and bring that news to our readers.

Apply if:

  • You’re knowledgeable in Japanese gaming
  • You keep up to date on the latest in gaming, both Western and Japanese
  • You are a self-starter and are willing to find hot new stories on your own
  • You are able to contribute news regularly
  • You pride yourself on high quality content that informs readers, not misleads.
  • You’re willing to put in the work and write 300+ word articles free of copy paste from any other sources.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

Worth noting that while this is a “news” position, you may still contribute Editorials and Reviews! Apply with subject “Japanese Gaming Specialist” and two examples of gaming news writing.

Tabletop Gaming Specialists

TechRaptor has been building up our Tabletop  section over the last few years, and we’re happy to see that growth continue. We’re looking for writers interested in covering and reviewing tabletop games, as we continue to work with more developers and attend more events that have tabletop games we can check out!

Apply if:

  • You enjoy the latest in Tabletop Games, RPGs, Miniatures, Magic: The Gathering, and other TCGs
  • You enjoy tabletop gaming with a group of friends, or even strangers!
  • You have the ability to articulate what makes a game good for different group sizes, as well as which mechanics work well and which don’t work well or could work better
  • If reviewing group games – able to bring a group together to play through a game multiple times before reviewing.
  • You pride yourself on high quality content that informs readers, not misleads.
  • You’re willing to put in the work and write 300+ word articles free of copy paste from any other sources.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

We welcome more great writers to join us as we expand our board game coverage and build professional relationships with devs around the world. Apply with subject “Tabletop Specialist” and two examples of tabletop writing

eSports Correspondents

eSports are growing fast – and we want to start reporting on them. DOTA 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, SMITE, Overwatch and more – if you’re following the games, we want you to report on them!

Apply if:

  • You follow a particular eSport and know the players and teams involved
  • Can articulate the different nuances and metas of the game(s) you write on
  • Can cover news in a timely manner during competition season and during the off-season
  • Want to grow your knowledge of the sport and grow TechRaptor as a source for eSports news
  • You’re willing to put in the work and write 300+ word articles free of copy paste from any other sources.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

There are a ton of people watching the pros compete in the games that they play, so we really want to expand our coverage of eSports. Plus, we feel that our writing guidelines and growth will help create a competitive eSports coverage team. If interested, use subject “eSports Correspondent” and attach two examples of eSports news you’ve written.

Staff Writer

Staff Writers are the most versatile of our team – able to write news, reviews, editorials, or conduct an interview with a developer. We can always use more people on our team to keep bringing great content to our readers, which is why we want people to apply.

Apply if:

  • You love games/tech/tabletop and follow the latest news
  • You’re able to quickly turn around a story (news/editorial/interview)
  • (Review) You can complete a game in full, looking at all aspects of it and reviewing based on how it plays, not any outside influences.
  • You pride yourself on high quality content that informs readers, not misleads.
  • You’re willing to put in the work and write 300+ word articles free of copy paste from any other sources.
  • You’re willing to follow a set of guidelines to maintain quality standards, as well as TechRaptor’s ethics policy.
  • You want to work with a bad ass team of raptors.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

Content is the lifeblood of our site, so having more content writers is key to our growth. If you’re interested in joining our team, use subject “Staff Writer” to apply and attach two pieces of writing that are tech/gaming/tabletop related.

Video Content Creators

TechRaptor has been gradually expanding our video coverage over the last year, adding more regular staples than the extensive con coverage we provide at E3 and Gen Con. We’d like to get more reviews, first impressions, and featured video content on our channel – and we’re looking for great creators to work with us on that.

Apply if:

  • You’re able to create a few videos a month and can accompany them with 150+ words on-site
  • You are able to edit videos without needing much direction from our Video Editor
  • You can articulate yourself well, and form reasoned and clear arguments
  • You love gaming, tech, or tabletop
  • You’re willing to follow a set of guidelines to maintain quality standards, as well as TechRaptor’s ethics policy.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

We’d love to have new video content creators to join our team, so if interested apply with two examples of gaming, tech, or tabletop content with the subject “Video Creator”.

Community Managers

Our new site is very community focused, and because of that, we’re looking for people who are interested in helping us manage and grow our Pack. With Membership, Forums, Comments, and more being a part of the new site design – this is very important to our growth.

Apply if:

  • You’re willing to log into our Team Chat every day and work with staff and editors.
  • You’re willing to log onto our forums and comment sections regularly and interact with readers.
  • You’re willing to work with managers on promoting and re-posting great content.
  • You want to take “ownership” of a part of TechRaptor and help to grow it.
  • You pride yourself on high quality content that informs readers, not misleads.
  • You’re someone who plans on sticking around a while.

This position is open immediately, please use subject “Community Manager Position” if interested and attach any experience you’ve had with communities. If you’d like to write content on TechRaptor as well as run the Community – we’re all for that, just please include two examples of gaming/tech/tabletop content.

If any of those roles above look good to you, please apply at apply[at]techraptor[dot]net.

Two Notes:

  • We typically get a lot of requests when we put up an ad for more staff, so it may take us a while to get to you. If it’s been more than 2 weeks since you’ve emailed us (we’ll try not to let this happen), chances are you haven’t made the cut.
  • TechRaptor pays based on impressions and milestones (x number of articles written during the month) in a revenue split with the site for advertising/other revenue. Due to our size this pay is pretty low, and although we have plans to increase it next year – it may not meet expectations for many people. Because of that – anyone who is accepted will receive our current pay setup for full disclosure. We don’t want to waste anyone’s time, and find it very important to be transparent about our finances.

We look forward to meeting a ton of great new writers and aspiring journalists as we seek to bolster our team with our new site design. We want to make TechRaptor a great place to find content, and hope that everyone who applies feels the same.
