Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

In a time of strong concerns from part of the gaming community regarding DLC practices and breaking up games into chunks, Koei Tecmo is not slowing down with offering consumers more options, as they've announced and released a new Season Pass 2 for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round for the Xbox One and Playstation 4, as first reported by IGN. The pack includes 98 new costumes for a price of 93 dollars, and those who order the season pass will get an exclusive Secret Agent Hanoka costume, shown below.

The second season pass comes with the success of DLC for the company, as stated by a Koei Tecmo representative: ""DoA DLC sales have [been] met with great success in Europe and US, predominantly because the fan base has expanded significantly on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One." The full costume list is as follows:

  • Swimwear 2015 Costume Pack (16 costumes)
  • September 2015 Costume Pack (16 costumes)
  • Halloween 2015 Costume Pack (34 costumes) - Note that this one is sourced by the community following a competition that was held.
  • November 2015 Costume Pack (16 costumes)
  • Costumes by Tamiki Wakaki (16 costumes)
The new Season Pass is currently available on the Xbox One right now, but for Playstation 4 owners, things are a little bit more complicated. For the NA Playstation 4 owners, it is still not on the store page at the time of this article. For the European Playstation 4 owners, it has been indicated that it will be on the store tomorrow after the store updates.

You're probably wondering about the PC version, but no information has been released regarding it being on there. That may be purposeful on Koei Temco's part at this point, as the game is currently going through a Beta Test for the online component, after promising the update would have been completed in June 2015. This was only one part of the key features missing on the PC release at the time, and there's no current estimated date in which the Beta will end at this point. While the creators of the costumes would be different from the network and core game programmers, it is likely that they did not want to upset any of the PC users in believing they were focusing on something else other then the features they were missing at this time.

Is downloadable costumes getting out of control for a second season pass, or is it just offering the consumer more content? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
