Two Point Hospital, the inaugural title by Two Point Studios where you manage your very own healthcare organization, will be releasing a sandbox mode according to a news post on the game's Steam Community page.

If you haven't yet played it, Two Point Hospital has you taking on the challenges of healthcare in a world filled with strange diseases and even stranger treatments. The game's launch was a bit lacking in some respects - our review took issue with a nonexistent copy & paste feature and a few other problems. However, Two Point Studios has been hard at work adding in the things the community has asked for and we're soon to see yet another addition: sandbox mode. Have a look at the trailer for what's to come:

Sandbox Mode will allow Two Point Hospital players to customize any of the game's various levels to their liking. You'll be able to adjust everything from the level's temperature to the frequency of patients coming into the hospital. Over a dozen different settings will permit you to make your game easier or more challenging to fit your tastes.

Accessing the new game mode will be a simple matter of completing the first three levels of the game (which are more or less its tutorial). Once that's done, you'll be able to access the new gameplay features from the main menu and give it a whirl.

The developers happen to be running a live stream showcasing this new feature right now. No worries if you tune in a bit late - the VOD should be available at the same link.

If you'd like to try out Two Point Hospital's Sandbox mode right now, you can access it on Steam via the Betas feature:

  1. Right click on the game in your Steam Library and select Properties.
  2. Navigate to the Betas tab.
  3. Select "twopointhospital_patch_beta -" from the dropdown.
  4. Click Close and wait for your game to update.
  5. Once it's installed, launch the game and you'll have access to the beta.
Unfortunately, Sandbox mode doesn't let you create new level geometry - players will only be able to modify one of the game's existing 15 hospitals. That aside, it's still a pretty neat new feature that should add a bit more life to a game that's already pretty good.

The most recent update to the game was the Customisation Update which added the ability to change out staff uniforms and rename your employees. Now's as fine a time as any to get Two Point Hospital for yourself; you can pick it up on Steam or the Humble Store for $34.99 or your regional equivalent.
