A port of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, a pair of sources have informed insider Laura Dale. This comes on the heels of speculation that Nintendo port other Wii U titles like Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon to the Switch for its launch.

According to the rumor, the Super Smash Bros. port will not be available on the Switch's launch day but should arrive within a six-month timeframe. The port is expected to contain all available DLC, including characters, stages, and Mii Fighter costumes. It is unknown if any additional content, such as the exclusive Smash Run mode in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, will come to the port. Similarly, there is no information on whether or not there will be support for GameCube controllers, as the Wii U had with the GameCube Adapter.

The rumor also gives an update for the last three amiibo to be released in the Super Smash Bros. line. The Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta amiibo will have their releases delayed to 2017 in order to launch alongside the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U port. For reference, the newest figures in the Super Smash Bros. line—Roy and Ryu—released on March 18. Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch will support amiibo.

Nintendo's profits from amiibo were strong throughout 2015, with especially high demand in North America. However, sales of the figures have decreased for the company for the fiscal year ending in March 2017, according to an earnings report.

Nintendo will be formally unveiling more details about Switch during an event in Tokyo on January 13, including a list of launch titles. Thus far, they have not commented on any games being ported to Switch. It is likely that any official announcements regarding software ports will be made at this event.

Do you think Nintendo will port any Wii U games to Switch? Are you upset about the rumored amiibo delay? Sound off in the comments below!
