If Swiss retailer Softridge's website is to be believed, we could finally have a concrete release date for The Last of Us Part II. According to the site, Naughty Dog's upcoming sequel will launch on February 28th, 2020.

It's important to stress that this isn't an official Naughty Dog source. You should consider this a rumor until we get definite confirmation. During a Between the Sheets interview, voice actress Ashley Johnson seemed to suggest that the game would be released in February. Kotaku's Jason Schreier also said The Last of Us Part II would launch in February after being bumped from the fall 2019 release schedule. If these sources are trustworthy, then the Swiss retailer's website seems pretty credible.

Softridge's product page for The Last of Us Part II also lists three editions available for purchase. These editions are as follows: Standard, Special, and Collectors. The Collector's Edition is vastly more expensive than the other two, weighing in at 279.90 Swiss francs (about $282). Presumably, this version will come with some kind of collectible statue or other memorabilia. It's worth stressing that the packshots on Softridge's website aren't final, but here they are anyway (thank you, Softridge):

Softridge also provides a list of features for The Last of Us Part II. Here's our slightly wonky translation of these features (which all sit below a huge "IMPORTANT: Packshot, content, availability, and price NOT FINAL!"):

  • An intense story driven by strong characters, perfectly orchestrated by hit studio Naughty Dog
  • Outstanding setting
  • Unpredictable encounters with enemies through a world-class AI system
  • Unpredictable single-player story mode, Hollywood blockbuster-style
  • State-of-the-art motion capture conveys emotions realistically

Interesting. We'll have to wait until the next Sony State of Play conference on the 24th for more news on The Last of Us Part II. In the meantime, you can check out our review of the first game.

If this is legit, will you be picking up The Last of Us Part II this February? Let us know in the comments below!
