Netherrealm Studios upcoming fighting game, Mortal Kombat 11, has over twenty years of history to call upon for its roster. Part of the exciting process they are going through now is the slow character reveals for the game, from old fan favorites to a few new surprises.
First spotted at Resetera, a potential list of the games full roster has accidentally been leaked thanks to Steam Achievements found on the PC version of the game. The listing shows each achievements code, which hints at earning achievements for each character by executing two of their fatalities.
Because of the uniform nature of the codes, each achievement is tied to a specific character, identified by three letters from their name. Some, such as KAB, DVO, SCO, and SUB, refer to already revealed characters such as the recently revealed Kabal and D’vorah, as well as the iconic Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
In total ten names are unaccounted for, while another nine correspond to confirmed fighters for the game. The only fighters possibly missing an achievement who have been confirmed is Geras, one of the new characters introduced in Mortal Kombat, and longtime villain Shao Khan, who is pre-order DLC for the game.
It should be noted that achievements have been added over time, including the characters mentioned, meaning this is likely not the complete achievement list for the game. It is almost certain that more characters are coming to the achievement list, but for now, at least ten names are unaccounted for.
The three letter names on the code are showcased below, in alphabetical order. Please note that it is only speculation as to who they are at this time, so nothing is confirmed at all. Some are completely unknown as they correspond to no known Mortal Kombat character.
Err – Erron Black
Kun – Kung Lao or Kung Jin
Cas – Cassie Cage
Jad – Jade
Cet – Unknown
Fro – Frost
Kol – Unknown
Kot – Kotal Kahn
Jac – Jacqui Briggs
Ter – Unknown
The achievements also reveal other aspects of Mortal Kombat 11, such as collecting 200 pieces of gear, which corresponds to the implementation of the gear system from Netherrealms other fighting game, Injustice. Ed Boon has stated that in-game customization will not impact the stats of any fighter, and are just cosmetic upgrades unlike in Injustice 2. Finally, there are achievements for Brutality, Mercy, and spilling 10,000 pints of blood while playing the game.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released on April 23rd for the PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4
