Rogue Legacy, a roguelite that has you taking on an ever-changing castle as a very stubborn family of warriors, has released an update for the celebration of its fifth anniversary according to a post on the game's Steam News page.

In a world full of brave knights and bad monsters, the heroes of Rogue Legacy are not any one man but rather an entire family. While it may very well be possible to beat the game on your first go, it's just so darn tough that the odds aren't very good. That's why it's often up to the next generation to get the job done, usually with the benefit of the improvements to your family manor and shiny new equipment that you've acquired through many hard battles.

It's been a bit over five years since Rogue Legacy was first released to the world and that anniversary brings with it a brand-spanking new update. The game now fully supports English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Polish, and Simplified Chinese throughout the entirety of the experience. Cloud saving has been enabled, and players will now be able to rebind the mouse.

Gameplay has had a couple of new additions, too. The "Prosopagnosia" trait (being bad with faces) and "Clonus" trait (having the shakes) should add a bit more variety to your family tree and their numerous genetic troubles. Stat drops now scale with New Game+ levels, and boss remixes will only spawn in New Game+ and higher.

The last big addition is the "Thanatophobia" achievement which requires you to beat the game in 15 lives or less. The developers say it's super difficult to complete! Some players may want to get the 100% achievements but might not be able to overcome this challenge, and for that reason a grace period of sorts has been enacted. For a limited time, players who have all achievements (except Thanatophobia) can hold Left Alt & Capslock and then press T to unlock the achievement.

There are a few other minor bug fixes and the like that have made their way into the game - be sure to read through the news post for all of the fine details. If you don't yet own Rogue Legacy, you can pick it up on Steam, on the Humble Store, or on GOG for $14.99 or your regional equivalent. The Steam version is currently discounted by 75% to $3.74 until August 1st.
