Rise of the Tomb Raider Preview

It's been close to two months since the PC release, and now Square Enix has revealed the release date for the PC port of the newest game in the Tomb Raider franchise shortly after it was revealed to be releasing this month.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released on Steam on January 28th, 2016, with many "numerous features" for the new release, which include support for Windows 10 and 4K resolution.

A sequel to 2013's Tomb RaiderRise of the Tomb Raider features Lara Croft exploring the Siberia as she seeks to discover the truth behind immortality and the 'ruthless' organization called Trinity. The game focuses on Lara Croft's first "Tomb Raiding expedition", where Lara will "use her wits and survival skills, form new alliances, and ultimately embrace her destiny as a Tomb Raider." This will have Lara fighting both nature and man, as players will craft and scavenge in order to survive the hostile world that they find themselves in.

There are two versions for the PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider, the Standard edition for $59.99 and the Digital Deluxe edition for $89.99 that bundles a Season Pass for all the DLC to be released for the title. The first major DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider is called Endurance Mode, which was just released on Xbox consoles, with more DLC to come throughout 2016. The title will be available both online and offline such as Steam, the Windows Store (one of the biggest releases for the windows 10 store yet), Amazon, and the Square Enix e-store. If you are wanting to upgrade your graphics card, you may want to wait a few days though, as it appears that NVIDIA will be bundling Rise of the Tomb Raider with some of their GTX 900 line starting on January 7th.

For those who are looking to pre-order the title, the Standard edition includes the 2013 version of Tomb Raider and the 'bonus Remnant Resistance Pack', which features the Remnant Outfit which is made up of collection of animal skins, and Byzantine Armor. Also in the pack are the 'Moon Shadow' Heavy Pistol Skin and rare 'Bullet Resistance' foil card which increases Lara's resistance to gunfire.

There is also a physical Collector's edition for Rise, which bundles the Digital Deluxe version of the game, a steel case, a 12-inch Lara Croft statue, and physical renditions of Lara's journal and jade necklace that can be seen in-game. It costs $149.99 and is only available through Square Enix's e-store.
