Rise of the Tomb Raider Blood Ties Preview

The first Tomb Raider game came out 20 years ago and because of that Crystal Dynamics is labeling 2016 as "The Year of Tomb Raider." With that in mind planning for the new DLC to be included in the season pass will introduce players to new experiences as well as bringing them back to where it all began, the Croft Manor.

"Blood Ties" is the name of the new DLC where you will get to explore the Croft Manor. Lara will have to "reclaim her legacy and prove that she is the rightful heir in the wake of her father's death", this DLC will include over an hour of new story content. As well as more story content a new mode called "Lara's Nightmare" is also being included in "Blood Ties". In this mode the undead will rise again and you'll have to use Lara's skills to fight off the oncoming hordes.

More content will also be coming to the game's existing "Endurance Mode" that allows you to raid tombs with a friend. First up of course, is the fact that you will be able to do it with a friend in co-operative play starting on October 11th. You need to make sure that there is fuel for the fire, you're well stocked up on food, and most importantly no enemies catch you unaware. The longer you last the higher on the leaderboards you will be able to reach. If you aren't being challenged enough then there is a new difficulty mode, Extreme Survivor, where you'll have to work even harder to get supplies and checkpoints have been reduced.

Lastly additional skins are being added to the game for you to use in Expedition mode. Five of the skins are classic Lara Croft models from the original three Tomb Raider games, Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness, and Tomb Raider Chronicles. The final new outfit is a cold weather outfit inspired by Lara Croft's outfit in Tomb Raider III.

This additional content will be available on the 11th of October and any current owners of the Season Pass will get it all for free. If you want to read the full blog post by Chris Johnston, the Associate Brand Manager at Crystal Dynamics then you can over at Xbox Wire.

What content are you most looking forward to? Are you thinking of getting this DLC or the Season Pass after hearing about any of the new content? Is there any retro skin you wish they'd put in the game?
