Riot Issues Two-Year Ban on OPL Team Immunity

Riot declared Tuesday that the owners and host organization of Team Immunity are officially banned from future tournaments for two years for failing to pay their players. The Oceanic Pro League noted that the team had been warned on multiple occasions to make the agreed upon payments. The ban applies to all tournaments hosted by Riot, including amateur and university series. All teams in the Oceanic Pro League sign an agreement to pay a minimum amount for each match within a certain time frame. Team Immunity failed to pay their players in split 1 and split 2 of the 2015 season. 

In both splits, multiple reports from players alleged that Team Immunity failed to pay them their owed match payments within a reasonable margin of time. Upon investigation, we confirmed that these payments were outstanding within the agreed-upon time period and that Team Immunity were in violation of their team agreement.

The report harshly adds that, "Team Immunity has repeatedly proven they are not capable of operating at the standards we expect on behalf of their players and fans." It clarified that the players themselves had, "done nothing wrong" and that the OPL would work with them to find new teams so they can continue play, and they would still be able to vote in the 2015 International Wildcard All Stars. After the two year ban, Riot will conduct a review of Team Immunity standards before allowing them back into the league. Team Immunity ranks seventh in the Oceanic Pro League, with a 4-10 record. 

Team Immunity released a short comment on Twitter about the issue, claiming that Riot was mistaken and they are working with administrators. They will release further comment at a later date. 

Currently, Team Immunity also has teams in Heroes of the Storm and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The team is sponsored by primarily by Intel, as well as a number of other companies. Most Team Immunity players have not commented specifically, except for their sub MsFish. Another player, Tgun, retweeted encouragement his fans to continue to root for Immunity's CS:GO team and answered questions during a Twitch stream.
