A recent filing with the USK has shown that 2010 RPG Resonance of Fate has been given a rating for the PC and PS4.

The rating was found on the recent classifications on the USK website, the German equivalent to the ESRB. The publisher is listed as tri-Ace, the original developers of the game (most famous for the Star Ocean series) over Sega.

Resonance of Fate, known as End of Eternity in Japan, was first released in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 by Sega, and was developed by tri-AceThe game followed an unconventional combat system, turn-based mechanics inspired by movies such as The Matrix or Hard Boiled, where a trio of mercenaries use various modded firearms and jumping acrobatics to shoot down opponents.  The games setting was also unique, with an apocalyptic steampunk world, surrounding a tower that players will have to explore.

At the time of its release in 2010, Sega was hoping to have a major RPG tailored made for western audiences, but the title was only a moderate success. Characters and costumes from the game have appeared in various Sega titles since then, but no sequel or support for the game has been given for years.

It is currently unknown if the ratings mean a re-master of the game is coming, or simply a re-release. Sega has currently not commented on the ratings.

Quick Take

Resonance of Fate was always an underrated game in my book. I enjoyed the unique take on turn-based combat and while the story was not the strongest point, it was unique enough to be worth a playthrough. It is actually a game that is not available for backwards compatibility on the Xbox One or in the PS Now collection, which means it's kind of stuck in last-gen for players who want to play it.

The classifications for PC and PS4 implies a remaster, but even if it's just a re-release of the game online, that would be enough to keep it relevant eight years after its launch.
