Capcom has announced that they will continue their trend of re-releasing Resident Evil games with Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 all coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this year. It was announced on Capcom's website in a blog post. The three games will be resealed separately, starting with Resident Evil 6 on March 29, then Resident Evil 5 in the summer, and Resident Evil 4 in the fall. They will be sold digitally at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.99 each.

Resident Evil 6, first released in 2012, was a much more action-packed story compared to even its predecessor, and because of this, it garnered a heavily mixed response from fans. You played as many different characters throughout the game as you jumped around various parts of the world.

Resident Evil 5 is set in Kijuju, a fictional region of Africa. First released in 2009, the game allowed for co-op play between two players. Player one would take control of returning character Chris Redfield and player two would play as newcomer Sheva Alomar.

Resident Evil 4 is considered by many as the best in the series, was first released in 2005. It was originally a Gamecube exclusive but in the end was ported to a multitude of platforms including the PS2, Xbox 360, PC, iOS, Android, and ... Zeebo? The game had more of a survival horror theme compared to the games released later although less than its predecessors and marked a shift in tone in the series.

2016 marks the 20th anniversary for the Resident Evil franchise with the first game being released in 1996 in Japan. Capcom have been re-releasing and updating a lot of Resident Evil games lately with new versions of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0, which came out recently, and a Resident Evil 2 remake is also in production.

Capcom have said that a physical disc versions will also be available in the Americas, but no other details on this are known.
