Resident Evil 5 Gonna Eat Ya

If you've been yearning to punch boulders as Chris Redfield while on the go, you won't have to wait much longer. Resident Evil 5 launches for the Switch on October 29th, 2019, along with Resident Evil 6.

Capcom has steadily released their legacy Resident Evil titles for the Switch, including the first game as well as Resident Evil 4. Now, two of the series' later titles will be playable. Resident Evil 5, which originally released in 2009, features Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar. The game takes place in Africa as the duo teams up and fights deadly, infected locals and terrifying monsters. Resident Evil 5 is a co-op title, and allows players to work together and take down the undead threat. As Chris Redfield, you can also punch a boulder, which is a moment everyone should experience.

Resident Evil 6 also releases on the same day as its predecessor. This 2012 title is cooperative and includes longtime characters of the series with four different campaigns. Players can expect to take the role of Chris Redfield once more, as well as Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and more. Overall, Resident Evil 6 was not a well-received title, but if you haven't experienced it for yourself and want to learn more about Resident Evil lore, it might be for you.

With a plethora of other Resident Evil titles that have yet to launch on the Switch, there is probably more to come. For now, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 come to the Switch on October 29, 2019, with each title selling for $29.99. You can also buy a special $59.99 bundle that includes Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 at retail the same day the latter two games launch.

Quick Take

I've only played Resident Evil 5 of these two, but it's actually a fun title. Don't go in expecting it to be Resident Evil 4. Set aside the goofy story and grab a buddy, and you're likely to have fun. As for Resident Evil 6, all I can say is that it's likely the most controversial title in the series. Take that as you will.
