Rockstar have revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature a fully-fledged first-person mode when it launches next month. Just like GTA V, which got a first-person mode added with the PS4, Xbox One, and PC releases, you will be able to switch perspectives at any time during gameplay with the push of a button. You can use this perspective at any time, barring cutscenes.

Red Dead Redemption 2 including a first-person mode is no real surprise, considering how well it worked in GTA V. The surprise is that it will be available at launch since GTA V didn't get it until a year after launch.

If we take GTA Online as guidance, then Red Dead Online should allow players to play in first-person, too. Red Dead Online was recently unveiled by Rockstar, where they said it will launch in November, a couple of weeks after the game's launch.

Rockstar also talked about their plans and ambitions for Red Dead Redemption 2's online component. They explained how they have learned from the mistakes of GTA Online and how they want to deliver a more fully-featured online mode this time around.

The towns and areas that Red Dead Redemption 2 will take place have finally be revealed by Rockstar. A new page on their site reveals these long-awaited locations. These include Saint Denis, Mount Hagen, and Annesburg.

IGN recently got some hands-on time with the game. They came away with a lot (obviously) but some of what they highlighted includes some of the minor details that make Rockstar games great.

They spotted details such as being able to pet dogs to make them no longer bark at you, Arthur getting fatigued if he doesn't rest or eat, Arthur visibly loses or gains weight depending on how much he eats, and many more. These details have echoes of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto 4 which took more of a simulationist aspect at points to the world. They also emphasized that the bond between rider and horse matters a lot. Safe to say Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be quite the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launches October 26 on PS4 and Xbox One.
