In the most Rockstar of moves, developer Rockstar announced this morning via their news wire that the highly anticipated wild west adventure game, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed from its initial release window of fall 2017 to spring 2018.  While delays are nothing new for the Grand Theft Auto 5 developer, its always a bummer when it happens. In an apology statement developer Rockstar explains the reasoning behind the delay by stating that "...some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans."

"We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2."

To coincide with the delay announcement Rockstar has released a handful of gorgeous stills from the game and confirmed that more info is expected to come sometime this summer. With E3 around the corner its safe to assume that it may happen during the show.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the much anticipated follow up to Rockstars highly acclaimed wild west action game Red Dead Redemption, which was released back in 2010 on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Quick Take

Rockstar delaying its games isn't surprising and quite frankly if a delay is what it takes for Red Dead Redemption 2 to surpass the previous game then I'm fine with that. Those screenshots don't ease the pain of having to wait longer though.

With Rockstar delaying Red Dead Redemption by a few more months what do you expect to see them announce this summer?  Do you think it will happen during one of the E3 press conferences, or has the GTAV developer transcended trade shows and will do their own event?  What do you think about those screenshots and more importantly, what do you want to see in Red Dead Redemption 2?  Let us know in the comments below!
