Nintendo has jumped the gun this morning with their own Smash Brothers Nintendo Direct ahead of Bethesda's E3 opening press conference. In it, they confirmed several details that were leaked out yesterday, including Ryu and Roy joining the playable roster, new themed costumes for Mii fighters, and a Suzuko Castle stage from Street Fighter. Ryu becomes the fouth third party Smash Brothers character in the latest games, and the second representative from Capcom. In addition, all this content was announced to be available for purchase immediately, with a warning that the servers would experience quite a hit initially.

Lucas and Roy will be bundled together for $4 per platform, or $5 for a Wii U and 3DS Bundle. In addition, costumes from Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Splatoon, Mega Man, and Animal Crossing will be available for 75 cents each or $1.15 each for both platformers. Next, they announced three new Mii Fighter Amiibos, joining the wave that includes the Duck Hunt Duo, ROB, Game and Watch, and Falco. These figures are coming in September, and Sakurai confirmed that all Smash Bros characters will eventually become Amiibo.

Trophies for all the new playable characters are being added in, as well as a few others for Splatoon and a Ken trophy to compliment Ryu. As for new stages, Dream Land from the N64 Smash Bros will be brought back on both the Wii U and 3DS versions for $2 on one platform or $3 on both. In addition, he teased the original Mario and Zelda stages from the N64 game as coming soon.

The long-awaited Miiverse stage is a free update to the Wii U version. The Tournament mode is also incoming in August, allowing for community match ups as well as ones scheduled by Nintendo. Finally for features, Smash Bros. is gaining in-game YouTube functionality, allowing players to post replays from the Wii U to the popular video sharing service.

The direct ended with Ryu's confirmation video, and Sakurai explained that Ryu would have all his moves from Street Fighter, having punches that change power depending how long you hold in your attack buttons. He also has his original button combos from the game, and you gain more power if you use the more complicated combos for moves like the Shoryuken and the Hadoken. His Final Smashes are Ultra versions of those two moves, changing depending on how close you are to an opponent. Ryu is bundled with the Suzuko Castle stage for $6 on one platform or $7 on both.

If you want to see the excellent character videos and hear straight from Nintendo, the video archive is now available.

That's it for the Smash Bros. Direct. Which DLC are you getting? Are you ready to fight it out in the Miiverse? Where is my Samurai Goroh DLC? Answer these questions in the comments below!
