You’ll be able to get Rebel Galaxy free on the Epic Games Store in just a week. This naval-style space combat simulator by Double Damage Games is a heck of a lot of fun and soon you’ll be able to pick up a copy for yourself without having to spend a cent.

Check out Rebel Galaxy’s trailer to get a feel for what the game is like:

Essentially, it gives you a lot of the good stuff you can get from games like EVE Online minus a bunch of Russian dudes trying to steal your account. You’ll start off with a tiny freighter with limited capabilities; from there, you can move up to greater and greater ships, mining, trading, and fighting your way to victory. You’ll soon be able to get Rebel Galaxy free when it goes live on the Epic Game Store on June 20, 2019.

Players are plopped down into the universe in search of a relative that’s gone missing. Unfortunately, space is dangerous and unforgiving — there are pirates and all sorts of other nefarious dudes out there who are all too keen to blast you to bits. You’ll have to do what you can to earn some money and equip yourself with the best kit available as you explore a procedurally-generated galaxy filled with interesting sights.

I reviewed Rebel Galaxy and found it to be an absolute boatload of fun; it’s well worth picking up, especially at the astonishingly low price of “zero dollars.” It’s not a bad idea to pick it up, especially with Rebel Galaxy Outlaw coming to the Epic Games Store in the near future. (You can learn more about that game by checking out our interview with Double Damage Games’ Erich Schaefer.)

For now, though, the current free game on deck is Enter the Gungeon. This particular game merges roguelite mechanics with a twin-stick shooter in a beautifully-chaotic mix of bullet-riddled mayhem. Our review for Enter the Gungeon was similarly positive, so you should go ahead and grab it right now over at the Epic Games Store. You’ll be able to get Rebel Galaxy free on the Epic Games Store starting on June 20, 2019.

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
