If you've been on the fence about giving Ubisoft's tactical team-based first person shooter Rainbow Six Siege a go, then the French developer has you covered!

The game, which pits a team of anti-terrorist soldiers against a team of terrorists, is free now for anyone who wants to give it a go on PC. If you want to get it, you can download it for free via the Steam app or via uPlay, Ubisoft's own proprietary software.

To coincide with the free weekend, Rainbow Six Siege also got a temporary price cut of 33 percent, bringing the full price of the base game down to $40. If you feel like shelling out a little bit more for some extra goodies, you can also get the discounted Gold Edition which includes the game's season pass and gives owners early access to new characters—for 40% off, bringing that down to $54.

If you want to try it out on Steam, you can go here. If you don't have Steam for whatever reason, you can grab the game via uPlay by opening up the app and clicking the banner at the top of the landing page. Note that downloading the game via Steam means that you'll have to deal with uPlay anyway, for better or for worse. You'll be able to take advantage of this until Monday 10AM PDT.

Our very own Alex Santa Maria reviewed the game back in 2015, and was impressed by the game's surprising depth, graphics, and impressive destruction. You can read the full review by going here.

What do you think of Rainbow Six Siege? If you have played it: what do you think of the game and its post-release content? If you haven't played it: will you be giving it a go over the weekend?

Quick Take

Pretty damn cool that they're allowing people to play a somewhat new game for free. I've been told it's pretty good, and I may even check it out over the weekend.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
