The next step in the Rainbow Six Siege IP, Rainbow Six Quarantine was officially announced during Ubisoft's E3 press conference. Though the name was leaked prior to E3, the CGI trailer showed a progressive infection working its way up an unknown man's arm, as zombie-like creatures lurk in the background. Zero gameplay was shown, but this is not Rainbow Six Siege's first foray into PvE, with Operation Chimera having the Siege Operators fight off an alien invasion. More information is promised soon, and Rainbow Six Quarantine is set to launch in "early 2020."

Described as a three-player co-operative tactical shooter, while Ubisoft Montreal is drawing on much of the inspiration from Siege, they want Quarantine to be an entirely standalone experience. That being said, as you'll see in the trailer below, two of Siege's defenders, Ela and Vigil, make an appearance in the trailer. Many of the mechanics were borrowed from Siege as well: destruction is coming back, suggesting that Quarantine will make similar use of the Anvil game engine that Siege uses, gunplay will be similar, players will have gadgets to use at their disposal, and more.

One notable difference from Siege's Operation Chimera is that the two operators shown during the teaser aren't wearing biohazard protection gear. This suggests that the outbreak isn't necessarily biological in nature, or perhaps Team Rainbow isn't as concerned about infection this time around. Still, the thought of a substantial PvE or even a campaign mode coming to Siege has been one of the enduring complaints about the wildly successful tactical shooter; there's only so many rounds of Terrorist Hunt someone can handle. Ubisoft Montreal is playing Quarantine close to the chest, for now, hinting that we'll get more details about the co-operative tactical shooter soon.
