Atlus has announced that their DS RPG Radiant Historia is getting an extended port for the 3DS.
Radiant Historia was first released for the original DS in 2011. The game was a turn-based RPG that drew comparisons to Chrono Trigger with its time travelling themes, and received a positive reception from critics at the time. Now, Atlus is going back to the series, hoping to bring their "modern classic" to a brand new audience with Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology.
Perfect Chronology will follow the tale of Stocke in a fantasy-steampunk themed world. One of the game's biggest hooks was the ability to time travel between different timelines, known as the White Chronicle, which is used to change events and create branching pathways in the main storyline.
The big hook of the Perfect Chronology edition will be new story content, with a new character named Nemesia added to the game to explore more of the game world's history. In addition, a third timeline will be available, leading to episodic "what if?" scenarios based on certain in-game events. The new story content is also optional;Radiant Historia purists can play the game in "Append mode," which is the original game without the new content. It only unlocks with a New Game+ after beating the game once. There is also the "Perfect mode," which gives the player all the content into the game right off the bad.
In addition to the story content, the Perfect Chronology edition will also include in-game voice acting, redesigned character art, and new difficulty settings. The game's original composer, Yoko Shimomura has also returned, and will add five new songs to the game and several re-arranged music tracks.
If that wasn't enough, Atlus is also planning a Launch Edition of Perfect Chronology. The features include a limited edition artbook and a decal set, showcasing the characters in their new artwork.

Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology is slated for a release in 2018 for the Nintendo 3DS.
