When we’re little kids, almost everyone has some sort of weird fascination with what lies under their bed – unless they happen to have a bunk bed, in which case they have a fascination with making life as uncomfortable as possible for the other dweller. Recently announced episodic point and click adventure The Puppet of Tersa takes the central question of “If you lose something under the bed, where does it go?” and sends protagonist Cynthia on a wild, Alice in Wonderland-esque adventure.
Described as both whimsical and creepy, Cynthia explores the realm of Tersa and attempts to return home, but finds there is a mystical force preventing her from doing so. In true point and click style, there, of course, will be puzzles that must be solved in order to let Cynthia advance and hopefully accomplish her goal, as every step forward moves her closer to confronting the antagonistic force that is preventing her from returning home. As for the art of the game, Cynthia and the world of Tersa are rendered in a digitally hand-painted, 2D style reminiscent of children’s illustrated books. The Steam page for the game also promises a variety of interactivity in Tersa, stating that almost everything in the game is able to be interacted with in order to solve puzzles and to learn more about the world itself.
Developed and published by Madorium, The Puppet of Tersa is scheduled to be released in quarter 2 of 2019 for PC and will be published as a five episode series, with the first episode having the subtitle A Curious Place. It is also Madorium’s first point and click adventure game. The game demo is currently available for download on Steam.
