Since the end of last year, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been plagued by cheaters, with many claiming that it has gotten so bad, it has ruined the entire experience for them. After some digging, it turned out that many of the cheaters were from China, leading to many arrests being made. Stopping cheaters is one of PUBG Corp's main priorities, according to a blog post they made earlier this year. Many have suggested that region locking China would go a long way to help the situation, with even the Korean PUBG team reportedly looking into it, but in an interview with USGamer at GDC 2018, creator Brendan Greene disagreed:

"I mean everyone that [suggests] region locking [is forgetting about] VPN. It just doesn't work,"
He went on to describe the methods that his team are using instead, suggesting that they are dedicated to improving the game for a long time to come:
"We just implemented ping-based matchmaking which really has improved the gameplay experience for a lot of players. It's working out quite well and we're still doing research. We have the data team looking into it and trying to improve it. And that's the goal with the game, to keep improving it over this year and the next year and the next ten years."
Cheaters in PUBG are exploiting many of the game's systems to gain an upper hand. Some unlock the ability to move at sprint speed while prone, while others make player locations available on the map.

In other news, PUBG just launched its new Event Mode, a custom game type which will be changed and updated periodically. The new modes will come with exclusive items, with the next one featuring a flare gun. The first of these new modes allow players to team up in groups of eight. It also increases the spawn rate of rifles by two.
