Square Enix has released some new screenshots, a trailer, and some more information relating to the gameplay and characters of the upcoming RPG Project Setsuna according to a post on RPGamer.

The majority of the information is helpfully flagged with a "NEW" tag on the official website for the game where it can also be seen that it has been given a rating of 'B' in Japan by CERO (their ESRB) which means 12 and up.

Two new characters have been revealed. The first is Keel, a mysterious child from the Oki family. He's a magician with a high level of mastery over Fire magic. The second character is Jurion. Jurion's lineage makes her a descendant of the royal family, and she specializes in using her spear in three-dimensional attacks as well as water magic.

Some more details have been revealed about the fighting system of the game. Project Setsuna uses an ATB (Active Time Battle) system similar to previous Square Enix titles (specifically referencing Chrono Trigger), and there is an emphasis on coordinated attacks with the characters in your party. For example, two characters executing a similar attack at the same time will have a multiplying factor applied to the damage. This adds an element of strategy in terms of not only which of the characters' abilities you use but how and when you use them.

There is also an emphasis on positioning similar to tactical style games. For instance, projectile attacks will travel in a straight line and you would ideally want to line up enemies to hit multiple foes with one attack in order to make efficient use of your abilities.

Project Setsuna (also known as Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna in Japan) is the first title from the new studio Tokyo RPG Factory and was originally revealed at Square Enix's 2015 E3 conferenceProject Setsuna releases on February 18, 2016 in Japan, and it is planned to be released in North America sometime in 2016.

What are your thoughts on Project Setsunda (Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna)? Do you think this new title from Tokyo RPG Factory can capture the magic of the more classical Square Enix RPGs? Let us know in the comments below!
