Prison management simulation Prison Architect is making its way to Android and iOS tablets according to a post on Paradox Interactive's forums.

Prison Architect is a game where players can build a prison from the ground up however they like. Players are obligated to meet certain minimum requirements such as minimizing the number of prisoner deaths and escapes. Beyond that, they can opt to design their prison for a variety of different scenarios including less-profitable minimum security settings and highly profitable maximum security.

The game got its start on PCs, but it eventually made its way to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Although a mouse and keyboard are helpful for this type of game, players are able to pause Prison Architect during construction or other critical moments and direct their resources (such as armed correctional officers) by sending them to certain waypoints. The tablet version of the game will have appropriate changes made to the controls for a touch interface. A number of screenshots on the announcement post should give players an idea of what to expect in terms of controls and the interface.

The tablet-specific version of the game will be titled Prison Architect: Mobile. It will be free to download and play on both platforms. Content and gameplay modes will be available for purchase as in-app purchases. We don't yet know what the limitations to the free version of the game will be or how the additional chunks of contents will be priced. In the meantime, players in the Netherlands can download the game early for their tablets through the Google Play Store or App Store to take an early peek at things.

What do you think of Prison Architect making its way to Android and iOS tablets? Do you think that the game will be playable on a touch interface with the appropriate adaptations for the control schemes? Let us know in the comments below!
