Longrunning gaming guide site Prima Games was in a spot of trouble in November of last year, but they've been saved thanks to an acquisition from Asteri Holdings. The acquisition will allow them to continue writing great informative content for gamers who are looking for tips, but one thing is for certain: the print media side of Prima Games is dead.

Prima Games is a company that's been around for nearly four decades. They specialize in writing comprehensive game guides for players who are looking for that one last secret item or happen to be stuck on a particularly challenging puzzle. These guides were all but essential for some titles in the days before online media was as big as it is. Typically, the only other option was a site like GameFAQs or forum posts, and that operated on the presupposition that a gamer had access to the Internet.

Unfortunately, Prima Games couldn't keep things going and was all set to shut down in November of 2018. The company had offices in Roseville, Indianapolis, and New York. It's not quite clear which (if any) of these offices remain. The company was previously expected to stop producing content sometime in March 2019.

"On its face, the Prima site will continue to function as a gaming portal serving up gaming news and player tips for fans of all ages," Asteri CEO and founder Steve Gray said as reported by GamesIndustry.biz. "Beginning today, as part of the Asteri consumer testing network, Prima Games will also serve as a hub for game creators to gather critical player feedback on projects in development. It's truly a perfect fit for the Asteri network."

Prima Games was founded in 1990 and they acquired their competitor Brady Games in 2015. They will continue to produce content digitally alongside features and a dash of gaming news. You can check them out at primagames.com.
