Prequel DLC To Crypt of the NecroDancer Announced For Early Access

Prepare to delve into the Crypt of the NecroDancer once more!

Developer Brace Yourself Games has announced a prequel DLC for their smash-hit rhythm-action roguelike Crypt of the NecroDancer, titled Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED. It will be released as a Steam Early Access title on January 24th, 2017.

The DLC will feature a prequel story with a new protagonist - Nocturna -  who appears to be undead and possibly a vampire, with the ability to shapeshift into a bat form. However, the trailer also reveals that players will be able to use the original protagonist Cadence, and possibly other characters, to play through the DLC campaign.

Currently slated features are:

• A new zone with new enemies and bosses
• A variety of new weapons, items, armor, and other loot
• Pet-like 'familiars' which will act as allies in combat
• An expanded soundtrack with over 20 additional new music tracks, as well as a remix of the original soundtrack by Overclocked Remix

On their decision to initially release the DLC into Early Access, Brace Yourself Games have cited how the original Crypt of the NecroDancer became a "much better game because of all the great feedback received from the community" when it was also released as an Early Access title first.

The price of the DLC has not yet been revealed, however, the developer assures Early Access adopters that the price for the DLC will not change between Early Access and the final release.

They currently "expect to be in Early Access for at least 2 months" although they state it could be longer depending on the feedback they receive regarding features that could be added prior to the final release.

The Early Access version will not yet have all of her story cutscenes, nor her final boss. The full version will also include at least 1 more playable character, new modes, new items, and more!

They have also made it clear that the initial release of the Early Access build will not feature-complete, but will gradually add more content in characters, gameplay modes, and items as well as adding in the rest of Nocturna's story cutscenes and boss battles over time as development continues.

In addition, Brace Yourself Games have confirmed that the DLC will be brought to versions on other platforms after it has been through the early access process.
