Today, Nintendo held a press conference in Tokyo focusing exclusively on the Pokémon franchise. In it, Chinese technology company NetEase announced that it will bring Pokémon Quest to China. In addition, that version of the game will get new updates, primarily player-versus-player action.

As of the time of writing, it is unclear if that update will also come to international versions of Pokémon Quest.

NetEase acts as one of the largest distributors of video games in China. The company produces many of its own titles that are exclusive to the country. Additionally, it also coordinates with international companies, like Blizzard, to bring games like Hearthstone and Diablo III to China.

We will update this article as we learn more.
