Pokemon GO, the Augmented Reality mobile game for iOS and Android, is one of the many games that is taking advantage of this spooky season by having its own Halloween event. The event runs from Wednesday the 26th of October to the 1st of November.

For anyone playing Pokemon GO during that Halloween period, they will see a couple of differences in the rate they are seeing certain Pokemon and the candy that you can collect. The Pokemon that you will be able to see more of include Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Zubat, Golbat, Drowzee, and Hypno. On top of seeing more of these horror themed Pokemon, all of the candy rewards that you earn through regular play will be doubled. This includes any Pokemon you catch, hatch, and transfer. Your buddy is also getting a boost that they wont earn double candy but will instead earn Candy four times as fast.

Pokemon GO released earlier this year after a beta period and has since gone under a wide variety of changes with more expecting to be coming in the future. To learn more about this game be sure to check out our Pokemon Go Review.

Quick Take

Pokemon GO has dipped out of the spotlight in recent months due to the mixed reception to a variety of the changes added in updates. The idea of monthly events promoting certain Pokemon types and giving players chances to earn candy faster could be just what the game needs to bring people back. If this was not tied to calendar events but instead weekly schedules like other mobile game events, then players could return when they think they have a better chance of getting a Pokemon that they want instead of getting all the same ones they're used to. While this is a great step by Niantic, there are still many features that players also want to see, including trading and legendary pokemon.
