Pokemon Go Halloween Update 2017

With Halloween around the corner and all kinds of festive activities appearing in your favorite games, Niantic has announced via the official Pokemon Go website what the holidays have in store for Pokemon Trainers. As with many of their holiday events, trainers will see increases in the numbers of specific Pokemon and will even see the arrival of some newcomers.

The Halloween event will begin tomorrow on the 20th of October from 12 pm PDT up until the 2nd of November at 1:00 pm PDT. Over the course of this event, Pokemon that will appear more frequently include usual spooky Pokemon and Ghost-types like Cubone, Ghastly, and Drowzee but fans will also see the inclusion of Hoenn Pokemon Sableye, Shuppet, and Duskull to name a few. This marks the first sign of Gen 3 Pokemon appearing the in the mobile adventure. Pikachu will be getting another costume change and will now be wearing a witch hat for the duration of this event.

Additional bonuses that players will receive include the following:

  • Extra candy for your buddy Pokemon
  • Your buddy Pokemon will find candy twice as fast
  • Double candy for any catching, hatching or transferring
  • Special boxes in the shop giving players access to Raid Passes and Super Incubators
  • A Mimikyu hat for your trainer to wear in game
While some might be disappointed that only some Gen 3 Pokemon are available during this event you'll be happy to hear that Niantic is planning on slowly rolling out the rest of the Gen 3 Pokemon "starting as early as December!" This event lines up with what data miners learned from recent updates to the game including the addition of a Hoenn Badge for catching Pokemon native to the region.

Are you looking forward to the Pokemon GO Halloween event? Are you excited to see Gen 3 Pokemon are going to be appearing? Which spooky Pokemon are you most looking forward to?
