Pokemon GO Eggstravaganza

Another holiday weekend is in store for Pokemon GO now that Easter Weekend is upon us. The new event called the Pokemon GO Eggstravaganza goes live today at 1:00 PM PDT and will last until the 20th of April at 1:00 PM PDT. During this week you will be able to reap the benefits of many egg based ventures.

During this event a greater variety of Pokemon will be available to hatch from 2 km eggs so get walking or hop on your bike and ride in circles for a while to see what you can hatch. There is an added bonus from all of this egg hatching as well as you will earn double the candy for each Pokemon you hatch. You also will be gaining double XP throughout the week and if you pair that with the Lucky Eggs that are 50% off in the in-game shop if you go on a hatching/evolution spree you could earn four times the normal experience.

This is great news XP wise but it's good to point out that the Pokemon that will hatch from your eggs are determined from the time that you spin the Pokestop, this means that any egg that you already have in your bag will give you extra experience and candy but you won't have a chance at whatever the "greater variety" is that Niantic is adding to this event.

At the moment the current Pokemon that fall into the 2K variety include:

  • Common - Ekans, Goldeen, Nidoran (male and female), Geodude, and Krabby
  • Uncommon - Abra, Eggsecute, Oddish, Pichu, Bulbasaur, Gastly, Slowpoke, Slugma, Charmander, Machop, Squirtly, Diglett, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Aipom, and Togepi
  • Rare - Remoraid
  • Ultra-Rare - Misdreavious
It is unknown yet which Pokemon will be added to the egg pool but expect people to start tracking almost immediately after the event goes live.

How do you plan to maximize your time during this event? Time to take the dog out for even more walks? Do you even play Pokemon Go anymore?
