Playstation VR Bundle

According to a blog post by Sony, the Playstation VR will start taking preorders in North America on Tuesday, March 22nd.

The full VR Bundle will contain the core set for the bundle; the PS VR Headset, the PS VR Cables, Stereo Headphones, and a Playstation VR Demo Disk. Also included in the bundle is the Playstation Camera, 2 Playstation Move motion controllers, and the game Playstation VR Worlds on disc.

According to Sony, the Bundle "provides an unbeatable value for those of you looking to get right into VR gaming with your PlayStation 4."

The bundle is currently priced at $499.99 in the U.S, and $699.99 in Canada. Sony has stated that the core VR bundle, containing the Headset, headphones and demo disk, is currently unavailable in North America. In Europe, it was only the core bundle that was available and it sold out in most places extremely quickly.

The Sony VR Headset is currently one of three headsets to be released this year, with the Oculus Rift being released on March 28th, and the HTC Vive on April 5th, 2016. The Playstation VR will be released in October, 2016.

Quick Take

The Playstation VR is certainly getting some steam, despite coming out later than both the Vive and the Oculus Rift. There are a ton of rumors behind the Playstation VR, including today's rumor that stated Sony is possibly developing a new Playstation system, a theoretical 4.5 system which is tailor made for the headset.

What is clear, however, is Sony is certainly trying to get into the VR market as quickly as possible. With the Oculus Rift already getting a mixed reception for their high price and the HTC Vive being pushed by Valve on their Steam platform, despite its high price, it may still be way too early to see if Virtual Reality will be successful in the long run. One thing is for sure, Virtual Reality will be an interesting wrinkle in gaming this year, and we shall see if it catches on for the long haul.

What do you think though? Will you buy the bundle? Leave your comments below.
