PS Plus August

It's that time of the month again! Owners of Sony's PlayStation Plus service will once again be able to grab six games for their various PlayStation devices, including space pirate battles, musical marching, and a run in with the yakuza.

The PlayStation 4 will have two games available for it. The first game is Tricky Towers, a new release. Looking similar to a competitive version of Tetris, your goal in Tricky Towers is to build a tower to a specific height while hijacking your opponents efforts by throwing over magic spells to mess with their physics and blocks. You can read a preview of it on the PlayStation Blog here. The second PlayStation 4 game is Rebel Galaxy. In Rebel Galaxy, you'll be piloting a spaceship and completing various missions to upgrade your ship and make deals with factions. You can read our extremely positive review of the game here.

The PlayStation 3 will also be getting two games. First up is Yakuza 5. The fifth entry into the open world beat-em-up, you'll be running around Japan as five different protagonists each with different goals and skills. You can read our review for Yakuza 5 here. The second PlayStation 3 game is Retro/Grade, a rhythm game that plays out like a backwards SHMUP where you must catch shots that you fired to prevent a time paradox. Retro/Grade is a bit of a strange choice, as it was actually available on the European version of August 2012's PS+ games, back when US and EU used to get different games. Note: Europe is getting Retro/Grade as a PS+ game again this month and not anything else.

Finally we got the PlayStation Vita getting two games as well. Patapon 3 starts their games, the third entry into the rhythm marching game where you'll issue commands to an army by tapping buttons in time with music. It should be noted that Patapon 3 is a PlayStation Portable game, similar to Prince of Persia: Revelations from last month. The other game available will be Ultratron, a twin-stick shooter about the last human getting his revenge on robots for destroying the human race. Thanks to cross-buy this game will also be available on the PlayStation 3 and 4 as well.

This also means that it's your last chance to pick up the current line-up of PS+ games, which will leave when the new games are added on August 2nd. Make sure you grab Furi and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell on the PlayStation 4, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and Fat Princess on the PlayStation 3, and Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines and Prince of Persia: Revelations on the PlayStation Vita.
