Sony has announced that they're adding PlayStation 4 games to the PlayStation Now library. PlayStation Now is Sony's premium streaming service that, until this announcement, allows you to stream PlayStation 3 games to your PlayStation 4. This news comes from a new blog post on the official PlayStation Blog.

If you’re new to PS Now, the subscription service offers access to a large and ever-expanding library of games. Since PS Now utilizes our cloud streaming technology, you can access the entire catalog of games, select one, and start playing quickly without needing to wait for downloads.
Because PlayStation Now uses the cloud to stream and save your games you'll be able to pick up a game you started on your own PlayStation 4 on a different PlayStation 4 or PC. Sony have stated that they will have a private test with a select few PlayStation Now subscribers. Keep an eye on your inbox in case they send an invite your way.

There are no details on when the PlayStation 4 games will join the current 483 PlayStation 3 games already available on the service, but the wording makes it sound that you can expect to play with the first batch of PS4 games in the coming weeks and months, depending on whether or not you're in the test.

Currently, these are the most popular PS3 games available on PlayStation Now right now:

  • Red Dead Redemption
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2
  • Mortal Kombat
  • WWE 2K15
  • The Last of Us
  • Mafia II
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us
  • NBA 2K14
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution
  • Batman Arkham Origins
Sony is offering a one week trial of PlayStation Now if you want to see if subscribing to the service is something you want. You can read more details on the free trial by going here.

What do you think of this announcement? If you weren't willing to subscribe to the service before, does the inclusion of newer PlayStation 4 games make the service more attractive to you?

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
