We have known for some time that PlayStation Now, Sony's service that allows you to play PS3 games via streaming, was coming on PC. With today's post on the official PlayStation blog, the Japanese company confirmed that the service will be available on American PCs this September. In the same update, 6 new games will be added to the service.
With the arrival of PlayStation Now on PC, North American players will have access to more than 400 PS3 titles to be played in streaming, including some great classics of the platform. With September's update, the lineup will increase by 6 as the following titles will be added:
- Mafia II
- Tomb Raider Game of the Year Edition
- Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
- Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution
- Heavy Rain (with The Taxidermist DLC)
- Borderlands: Ultimate Edition
The blog post also mentions that Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will be added to the service in one of the soon upcoming updates.
It doesn't end here, however. For a limited time, customers in the United States and Canada will be able to subscribe to PlayStation Now at a discounted price. They'll be able, in fact, to snatch a 12 months subscription to the service for $99.99 which is 55% cheaper than the regular monthly subscription price.
If you have been exclusively a PC gamer for a decade or so, this may be a great chance to catch up on some great games of the past generation. You may also consider taking advantage of the recently released official DualShock 4 wireless adaptor for PC in order to get the full experience.
Quick Take
I've been a PC gamer for most of my life. While I don't slightly regret my choice, it's sad to see so many good games gated after platform exclusivity. While video game streaming is far from being an ideal solution, the arrival of PlayStation Now on PC gives to people like me the possibility to play some of the best titles of last gen. Personally, Ni No Kuni is top on that list for me.
