PlayStation Experience 2015 Recap: Lots of games coming soon

Coming short off the heels of plenty of announcements at The Game Awards today we had the PlayStation Experience opening keynote that brought even more news for PlayStation fans.

The show started with scenes of plenty of games that are out or soon to be out with a narration about how great it is to be a gamer nowadays. Some of the footage the crowd got very excited for was Final Fantasy VII Remake, Gravity Rush 2, Dark Souls III, and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

We got our first look at the new story trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Here Nathan reunited with Sam his long lost brother, who is now sporting some wonderful bullet wounds. The trailer shows using the face buttons allowing the player to make a decision on how to talk to Sam. After hearing some stories the trailer ends with Sam telling Nathan he's in trouble.

Shawn Layden took to the stage wearing an old Crash Bandicoot t-shirt. He talked about the Sony family including all their partner companies and how with everyone working together they have made PlayStation the brand that it is today. He teased all that is happening on the floor, and that there will be more PlayStation VR announcements, and plenty of game reveals.

The event then continued by getting to see crowd reactions from the teaser of Final Fantasy VII and then followed onto a brand new trailer for the game. In this trailer we hear characters talking about Cloud. We also get a look at Barret and the other members of AVALANCHE. The game play is third person over the shoulder instead of fixed camera angles. The gameplay for the fights seems to be turn based still but set up with characters in an area like Final Fantasy 13. The PC re-release for Final Fantasy VII is available today on steam.

Shelby Cox went next to talk about Call of Duty. More specifically that the first DLC map pack for Black Ops III called Awakening will be available on PS4 in 2016, 30 days before anyone else. The Call of Duty world league, the esports league, will also gain a presenting partner in PlayStation for the future. A trailer is then shown for the Call of Duty World League. The qualifications for the Call of Duty pro league are happening right now so you can go to callofduty.com/cwl to check out some matches.

CEO of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, then took to the stage to talk about Battleborn. He highlighted that there is not only a campaign, but also a great single and multiplayer experience. PS4 customers will be the first to get into the open beta, and if you play the open beta, then you will get a free character after the game launches. A new 16th Battleborn hero, Toby, was announced. He is a penguin in a mech suit and he will be playable in the open beta only on PlayStation. To finish this announcement, some Toby gameplay was shown.

Street Fighter V went next in the spotlight as F.A.N.G is announced. From the stage shown, he seems to be on the same side as Balrog, M. Bison and Vega. Capcom's Yoshinori Ono took to the stage at the time, sporting Ryu's fists and a headband. F.A.N.G will be the final character for the game, and also the first character that wasn't leaked. He uses a tricky fighting style to take out his opponents. It was announced as well that Street Fighter V will release Feb 2016. They also reveal the names of the six characters that will be added to the roster in the first year of play including Alex, Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri, and Urien. All of the characters will be available for free via gameplay but there will also be a Season Pass that is available today on the PlayStation store.

After getting rushed off stage, we were left with Gio Corsi. He talks about Dead Star, a PS4 exclusive, which is a top down twin stick shooter. In a new game mode called Capital Ship, you create a crew, warp into player matches, and fight to victory. Adult Swim Games also had a trailer to show off some of the games that they have coming out soon. These games include Death's Gambit, Ray's the Dead, Duck Game, Rain World, Small Radios, Big Television, and with Double Fine Head Lander.

Tim Schaefer took to the stage next to show off a new trailer for the remake of Day of the Tentacle. Day of the Tentacle will release on PS4 and PS Vita in March 2016. Full Throttle will also be getting a remastered version from Double Fine. Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin was also announced as a PlayStation VR side game for the series.

A new trailer for Invisible Inc was shown next, a game coming to the Playstation 4 in 2016 after releasing to the PC earlier this year. Don't Starve Together will be making its console debut on PlayStation 4 in 2016. In the trailer for Don't Starve Together, we see that there will also be local splitscreen for the console version. For PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, we saw the announcement of Zodiak: Orcannon Odyssey. We saw flight, turn based combat and anime style graphics, and not a lot else. Hitman GO, and Brawlhalla will also be coming to PlayStation 4. 

Yakuza 5 will also be making its debut December 8th on the Play Station 3. Yakuza: Zero will also be coming to the west for PlayStation 4 but no timetable was given. A trailer was shown for this latest game in the franchise which definitely had a unique style to it. We get to see introductions of characters and some of the fight game play that allows you to use your environment to law down the law.

SNK and Code Mystecs will also be bringing The Last Blade 2 to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. King of Fighters 14 will also be console exclusive on PlayStation 4 and a trailer was shown of a couple of fights in progress. One final trailer is shown for another exclusive PlayStation 4 game called Nioh . In this trailer we see dark souls style combat set in an oriental location.

Bastion, Bit Trip Collection and Nuclear Throne will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Stormcloud games has a new game called Brutal. An ascii based tron looking game, with the trailer above. You take on foes built out of various characters from your keyboard.

Scott Rohde takes to the stage to talk about the latest version of The Show 2016 and a new title called Guns Up that is only on PlayStation. This game has you build up a base, and creating a battle plan so you can then stay protected from waves of enemy attacks. Guns Up is Free to play on PlayStation via PSN today. PS+ members will also get a DLC bundle with plenty of items to help you out. Fat Princess Adventures is the next game to be announced with a new multiplayer game that will also be available today.

Ted Price came to the stage next to play a demo for the upcoming Ratchet and Clank game. He talked for a while about the thought process behind originally releasing the game and how today they not only have a new game but there is also the movie to look forward to. This Ratchet and Clank is meant to help fans remember why they fell in love with the franchise. We then get to see live gameplay of Ratchet meeting Clank for the first time, and this gameplay then extends as Drek forces invade the planet and Ratchet needs to return to his garage to fix up Clank. It will be coming Spring of 2016.

Dr. Richard Marks from PlayStation Magic Labs went next to talk about PlayStation VR. They show off a TRON like disc war game. There were some technical difficulties so they don't get to show off the full demo, but . After that a trailer was shown for a new Rez game called Rez Infinite that you can play in VR. Ubisoft will be bringing Eagle Flight to PlayStation VR, and in this trailer you follow an eagle as it flies around Paris. There will also be multiplayer where you can fly around with your friends.

Santa Monica studios is also working on a VR game called Modern Zombie Taxi Co, in it you have to drive zombie passengers around in your taxi. As you drive, you will have various objectives to also complete, so similar to games like Crazy Taxi. Job Simulator will also be coming to PlayStation VR in 2016, and you will be able to use PlayStation Moves to control your hands in game. From the new studio Highwire Games ,we see an interesting trailer for Golem, an interesting game set in a desert location as a girl moves a stone creature around by moving her body. It will be debuting on PS VR first.

A new event coming to Destiny The Taken King on December 8th in sparrow racing. You will drive through tracks with obstacles and even some enemies. You will get new sparrows, and other gear from participating. This Sparrow Racing league will only be available for three weeks. There will be an exclusive sparrow quest and event for PlayStation as well as exclusive Iron Banner gear throughout 2016.

Next up was Hob from the makers of Torchlight. In this puzzle game, the world seems to be moving around you as you need to progress. One mechanic seen is your characters large left hand that can expand in size allowing you to grab and pull objects. This game will be coming to PlayStation 4.

A new sequel exclusive for PlayStation 4 will be Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. In the trailer, we meet Evan the boy king and are set up with the story of him being overthrown. Evan flees to build up his power and then return to take back his kingdom.

Next, Epic Games takes to the stage to announce their MOBA Paragon. This game will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PC in 2016. Using the Unreal 4 engine the trailer that we see is beautiful. We get a brief look at some of the playable characters and their abilities. You can head to paragon.com to get more information. There will be an open beta in Summer 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PC.

And with that the event is over. With plenty news, there are a lot of games on the horizon for PlayStation gamers.
