The TV & Video section of the PlayStation 4's menu has been improved according to a post on the official PlayStation Blog.
As with most modern consoles, the PlayStation 4 lets you watch videos and television through the game's operating system. The TV & Video portion has been updated with some improvements to make for an overall better experience. The first portion of the update is the consolidation of video content into a central location within the app - you'll no longer have to jump between multiple different apps to watch the videos of your choice. Of course, you can still do things the old way if you liked things the way they are.
The "Featured" section will contain a mix of the best content from multiple different video services. This is complemented by the "Spotlight" section which fulfills a similar function but is centered around a particular theme. For example, you may see the Spotlight section highlighting a variety of Superhero shows (and goodness knows there are quite a few of them these days). The PlayStation Vue section will show you the live channels that are most popular in your area at that point in time.
Finally, the TV & Video section has support for a personalized YouTube experience. You can now link your YouTube account to your console and see recommendations fed to your PlayStation 4 menu based on your tastes. At the moment YouTube is the only service that utilizes this function, but support for other services is in the plans.
Whether you're using Netflix, Hulu, or just watching some highlight clips from your games, the TV & Video section improvements should make things a bit smoother for you overall. The update should be live now for all PlayStation 4 owners. More updates will be on their way in the future.
