The sheer rise in popularity for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been insane, but it should have been expected given the status of similar games like ARK: Survival of the Fittest and H1Z1. Therefore, it only seems fitting that Creative Director of Bluehole, Brendan Greene, announced that its highly popular battle royale title will be arriving to consoles exclusively on Xbox One later this year and will be upgraded in 2018 when it releases alongside the Xbox One X.

Based on the wording, there's a possibility that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds might arrive on the PlayStation 4 at some point, but this remains unconfirmed for now. In the meantime, Bluehole is looking forward to seeing how the Xbox community will play its game of improvisational survival, as VP and Executive Producer Chang Han Kim enthusiastically relayed.

Microsoft’s Game Preview program allows us to get feedback directly from players, something that has been crucial to our success on Steam Early Access. Furthermore, Xbox Live’s solid multiplayer capabilities will enable us to deliver the most complete Battle Royale experience to players worldwide.
