Frontier Developments, makers of Screamride and Elite: Dangerous, have released their latest game in early Alpha today. Planet Coaster is the spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 that was also developed by Frontier back in 2004. Like the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise Planet Coaster is a construction and management simulator allowing you to create your own theme park and rides.

Planet Coaster Early Bird Alpha gives users a chance to get their hands on the creative tools that will be available in the full release. The kinds of things that will be available to those who get the early access version will include the ability to build rides, create pathways, place scenery and explore the modular construction system. If you want to see what the alpha versions is currently looking like then you can see an Alpha Tutorial that has been released showing some simple building mechanics.

The game is currently set to release in Q4 of 2016 so this is an extremely early build of the game. The Alpha will be built with multiple stages with more and more features becoming available as development progresses. When Planet Coaster launches Frontier Developments hopes that they will be able to “deliver the best creation tools, the deepest coaster park simulation, the most expressive and believable crowds, and the most comprehensive sharing and community features.”

The Planet Coaster Early Bird Alpha is currently available to purchase at for the following prices: £49.99/$74.99/€67.99. The full game of Planet Coaster will be available in Q4 of 2016 and if you pre-order now you’re able to purchase the game for the discounted price of £19.99/$29.99/€26.99. If you wish to keep up to date on Planet Coaster then you can follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, or Instagram.

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
