Retro RPG Pixel Noir will be making its way to Steam Early Access in April 2019. The product of successful Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaigns, Pixel Noir is all about a hallucinating private eye trying to make sense of his past in a dangerous city. That sounds like it fits pretty firmly into the Noir genre to me!

Have a look at the game's trailer to see some gameplay and get a feel for the overall theme of Pixel Noir:

Pixel Noir tells the tale of a detective on the mean streets of Pinnacle City. You were once a police officer who was wrongly convicted after your partner perished in a fire. Ten years later, you've been released from jail and make your living as a private eye, haunted by the nightmares of your past. Can you finally find peace, or will the visions from the dark drive you insane? The only thing that keeps you going is your street smarts and a half-empty pack of cigarettes, so buckle up and do your best to solve the mystery!

A pre-alpha demo of the game is still available to download from the 2015 Kickstarter campaign. It's been some time since then, but it should give you a sense of what the developers are going for with their upcoming RPG. The Steam Early Access version of the game will have approximately half of the intended content. As with most Kickstarter campaigns, the backers of qualifying tiers will get a Steam key for the game or a discount at purchase. The game's soundtrack was composed by Hiroki Kikuta, the man behind the fantastic tunes in Secret of Mana.

You'll be able to play Pixel Noir on Steam sometime in the first week of April 2019. You can follow the game's development progress on its recently-revamped roadmap.
