Looking for a challenging retro platformer? Look no further than Furwind. Boomfire Games and JanduSoft's platformer has been available on PC since last October. Now, it's coming to consoles, including a physical release for PS4 and PlayStation Vita.
Furwind is a classic retro-style pixel platformer set in a colorful fantasy world. You play as the titular Furwind as he attempts to stop the ancient Darhûn from destroying his idyllic forest home. Along the way, you'll meet a collection of cute characters, battle a series of terrifying bosses, and put paid to the invasion of Furwind's forest once and for all. Gameplay-wise, Furwind evokes classic platformers like Ghosts'n'Goblins and Rayman. The game features over 30 levels, each of which offers "difficult and challenging, but fair" gameplay according to developer Boomfire. Your intrepid little fox can unlock extra powers to help him traverse his world and battle his enemies. Fans of old-school platforming and retro gaming should get along just fine with this one.
More exciting for PS Vita owners is news of a physical release. As detailed in the trailer above, Boomfire and publisher JanduSoft are putting together a physical collector's edition for PS4 and PS Vita. The collector's edition was originally announced back in April, but its imminent release will come as welcome news to Vita owners given the console's recent fortunes. These special physical releases will contain the following components:
- Physical region-free copy of the game
- Full-color printed manual
- Original soundtrack CD
- Individually numbered collector's certificate
- Collector's box with embossed logo
