Persona Q

Persona Q, a game that mixes Etrian Odyssey style gameplay and characters from both Persona 3 and 4 was recently (November 25th) released on the Nintendo 3ds. Promising a mixture of tougher dungeons and gameplay that Etrian has and the beloved characters and themes of the Persona series it has been widely anticipated for its arrival to serve as a Persona Fix until Persona 5 is released early next year.

The game mixes the two styles with dungeon crawling being in a first person five-member party like Etrian has, but like Persona has tons of Personas to equip and control for yourself making different combat styles. The story features over 80 hours of play with these characters and dungeons, making it one of the longest games to be released on the 3ds, continuing to prove the system’s ability to handle full-fledged RPGs.

There is, as with almost any game these days, going to be DLC as well. Atlus released a press release with them and for that section of it I will copy it here for you to read:

“Persona Q DLC Pricing and Roll-out Schedule: Sub-Personas - These additional sub-Personas will show up in the Persona Compendium after purchasing and can be summoned once for free. 11/25 - Kaguya - Free 12/2 - Orpheus Telos - Free 12/2 - Magatsu Izanagi - $1.99 12/2 - Thanatos - $1.99

Navigator Voices - Change the voice of the Labyrinth and Battle navigators to any of the voices below! The dialogue differs per voice and is adapted to voice's personality. 12/9 - Margaret - $2.99 12/9 - Elizabeth - $2.99 12/9 - Theodore - $2.99 12/16 - Marie - $2.99 12/16 - Nanako - $2.99”

The Sub-personas are an addition of a handful of objects and is probably not really that good a value though you get a couple for free from the game. Adding one or two more to your game will increase your ability to say 100% complete but not add much in the way of variety.

Navigator Voices though are much more interesting potentially. Depending on how much they changed it could create a pretty different experience having a different navigator focusing on different things. Likely what’s been done is it is just changed to fit the characters voice, so it’s likely to be almost all cosmetic but having it be a bit different would be neat.

On the other hand, don’t you want to hear Nanako’s voice right before you go off to desperate battle?

Persona Q is out now and you can buy it on Amazon, Gamestop or Bestbuy
