Persona 5 2015

Atlus's highly awaited role-playing game Persona 5 has been delayed until the summer of 2016. The game, which had previously been announced to come out in 2015, has been pushed back. The news came in a trailer released for TGS 2015.

It was a mixture of feelings for fans as they got to see more of the game but were also hit with the news of Persona 5's delay. The trailer, which is obviously entirely in Japanese, shows new footage from the game along with the series trademark anime cutscenes. We see some of the persona's as well as the main character walking the busy night time streets of Tokyo and a look at some of the other characters.

Persona 5 was originally only meant to be released on the PS3 before Atlus announced they would also release it for the PS4. We got our first look at the gameplay back in Feb this year.

Atlus did confirm on their Twitter that the release of Summer 2016 is not just for Japan:

Persona 5 will release in 2016 exclusively on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan and the Americas.

Not much of Persona 5's story is known. Atlus says on their website:

Beneath the veneer of typical urban high school life, a group of teenagers mask their mysterious alter egos, their "phantom thief" side. Who are they? Why are they dressed as such? What are their motives? And... why are they being pursued? A picaresque coming-of-age story, Persona 5 will bring a thrilling, new twist to the RPG genre!

The Persona series is known for mixing common aspects of life, such as going to high school, with not so common things, such as battling monsters.

No exact date was given for Persona 5's release date, but Atlus are aiming for Summer 2016 with the game to be released on the PS3 and PS4.
