Compete to become the most successful newspaper in late 19th century New York, with the board game Penny Press.  The first release from creators Robert Dijkman Dulkes and Matt Golec and published by Asmadi GamesPenny Press, is expected to be released on March 15th of this year.  Get the scoop, set your layout, and go to press as you relive the days of yellow journalism.

Penny Press - A Game About the News

After a successful Kickstarter campaign that ended back in July 2014, Penny Press is now hitting the market.  A thematic area control, worker placement style game, it casts players in the role of a newspaper mogul working to dominate the newsstands and edge out the competition. Penny Press is for 2-5 players and lasts 40-60 minutes.  Featuring lovely artwork from Mackenzie Schubert, the game has a straightforward design.  Penny Press won the first season of Tabletop Deathmatch and was an official selection for the Boston Festival of Indie Games.

Players have five reporters they can assign to stories in five categories of news 'beats': War, Crime & Calamity, New York City, Politics, and the Human Condition in Penny Press.  Roll a die to see who claims the story and then arrange stories for a newspaper layout.  Once an edition of the paper is ready, it's time to go to the presses and get published. Published newspapers are scored, determining a publication's success and who is winning.  The creators wanted to make the game easy to play, but there is still strategy involved.  Watch the "How to Play" video to learn more about the game mechanics, or download a PDF of the game's rules.
