At E3 2019’s PC Gaming Show, developer Rebellion showed off a trailer for the upcoming Evil Genius 2: World Domination.
The cinematic trailer shows various heroes attempting (and failing) to infiltrate a villainous lair. It is a full-fledged sequel to 2004’s cult hit Evil Genius, in which players build up and defend their own evil lair while progressively taking over the world. The sequel will feature a similar style and gameplay and include hundreds of diabolical objectives, gather hordes of criminal minions, and defend your lair from those annoying heroes.
Developer Rebellion describes Evil Genius 2 as “a satirical spy-fi lair builder, where players take control of an Evil Genius and set their plans for world domination in motion. When it feels this good to be bad, the Forces of Justice don’t stand a chance!” Some of the possible acts of villainy include kidnapping the governor of Main, selling the British royal family, and literally baking Alaska. I think it’s safe to say that there probably be a lot of James Bond references in there too.
Evil Genius 2: World Domination will release on Steam in 2020. Prospective players can go to the game’s website to sign up for access to the closed beta. The game is a successor to 2004’s Evil Genius. Originally developed by Elixer Studios, the game flew under the radar for a lot of people but nevertheless received highly positive reviews. Although Evil Genius 2 was announced back in 2017, word on the project has been pretty scant until today. Luckily for dedicated players, the long wait for a sequel appears to be near its end.
Are you one of the chosen few who’ve been waiting for this since 2004? Or are you freshly-captivated by the Team Fortress-like artstyle and tongue-in-cheek humor? Either way let us know what you think of the announcement in the comments below.
