Wargroove title

Chucklefish shows off their latest game, Wargroove, the Advance Wars inspired RTS-RPG.

12 different campaigns will be available in the game, as well as online and local multiplayer and a battle map editor, much like the original Advance Wars titles.

Jay Baylis takes the stage to talk about some unique gameplay mechanics, including mod support and content creation via the map editor. In addition to individual maps, we also have a campaign editor added to the title. One of the game's artists, Doris Carracosa, shows off the main map hud of WarGroove, and demonstrates how the campaign editor can lay down pathways and branching pathways as you go through different missions. Even secret paths can be triggered based on certain conditions on a given map, from random encounters to scripted events.

We see the commander units in action, who act as the player's avatar in battle. They are both your power unit, and one of your win condition, as losing your commander means you lose the game. You also have your command bases, which like in the original Advance Wars title, if you lose those you lose the game as well.

The map editor can also use advanced tools that can create conditions and scripted encounters, such as bandits attacking the player or more, all created by the player.

It takes three minutes to create a small campaign map and make it playable, showing the speed and ease map generation is for players looking create their own scenarios in WarGroove.

WarGroove will be released for the PC, The Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. No release date has been given at this time.
