During the PC Gaming Show 2019 conference this Monday, we saw a trailer for a new expansion for Terraria, Journey's End. The update will be the fourth major update to Terraria, which will release at some point by the end of the year. As you can see in the trailer, there's plenty of new content, a new Master Mode, new enemies, a lot of spelunking. The update will be completely free to players who already own Terraria, and it will include over 800 new items.

The massive update revisits nearly everything in the game, with wide-ranging changes that would be huge even without all the new content. The addition of 800 new items corresponds to roughly 120% of what was already in the game. Some of these items players will stumble across in their adventures, while others are craftable. The announcement or trailer didn't mention exactly how many of these are weapons or equipable items, but the game includes about 5 or 6 accessory slots after all.

Of course, there will be new enemies to defeat, new challenges to overcome, and possibly new bosses. The new challenges could refer to special events such as Pirate Invasion and Frost Moon, which would likely also include new bosses, but there's no confirmation on that. The update does include an in-game bestiary to track the enemies and learn more about them. There are also some new biomes with a new world-generation system. It's still a mystery what these are, but players can expect more nests and dungeons judging from the current content.

A rather interesting new feature is the ability to play golf, which will complement the challenge of the new Master Mode for those who have been hankering for some punishment.

Terraria Journey's End will release later in 2019.
