Grinding Gear Games, the developers of excellent Diablo-like Path of Exile, is finding themselves in a very fortunate position following the recent Diablo drama. In case you missed it, Blizzcon, Activision Blizzard's annual convention, happened over the weekend.
Signs had pointed towards a big Diablo announcement, and fans were certain it would be Diablo 4, or at least the next big game in the series. Fans instead got Diablo Immortal, a mobile game developed in partnership with Chinese developer NetEase. Fans were incredibly disappointed with the announcement, including one red-shirted man, accusing the game of being a cheap reskin of existing NetEase games. Apparently, the plan was to at least tease Diablo 4 before Blizzard changed its mind in the final weeks leading up to Blizzcon.
The whole thing was a bit of a nightmare for Blizzard and it leaves Path of Exile, one of Diablo's main competitors, with a great opportunity.
No doubt in an attempt to get ahead of this news, Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile will be coming to PlayStation 4 in December. This release coincides with the launch of the game's 3.5.0 expansion on December 7.
Path of Exile was rated for PlayStation 4 in Taiwan just a couple of weeks ago, so this news isn't the biggest surprise in the world.

Path of Exile is already available on Xbox One, so it was only a matter of time before PlayStation 4 users could get their hands on it. Path of Exile is a great online action-RPG heavily inspired by Diablo II (some of the developers even worked on Diablo II.)
Path of Exile launches on PlayStation 4 in December.
Quick Take
Path of Exile is a great game I've put quite a bit of time into. It's a fun, varied, and deep action-RPG that offers an extremely rewarding experience. It's a great alternative to Diablo III.What do you think? Are you excited to play Path of Exile on PlayStation 4? Let us know in the comments!
