Hello Games has announced some patch details, including workarounds for the current bugs and issues for the PC version of No Man’s Sky.
Right off the heels of the poor PC release, the independent studio has detailed some workarounds and plans for the first post-launch patch for the game.
Releasing the information on Steam, Hello Games details a list of patch notes, with all of the fixes currently being beta tested. A new Steam branch by Hello Games, called Experimental, has been created specifically for the beta testing and patch fix inquiries, before a final patch is released.
Included in the list are fixes to mouse jitter and alt-tab bugs, and improved FPS cap and a cap toggle to improve performance. Another fix is an improved AMD Phenom Support, with “Thousands of lines of assembly have been rewritten overnight to support AMD CPUs.” This is still not complete, as the Havok Physics engine still requires a “supplemental SSE 3” at this time.
Other fixes for No Man’s Sky include improved CPU support for older AMD CPUs, fixing the framerate due to the games shaders not being correctly cached by the GPU on some systems, and disabling Gsync by default, which should help those with issues with it.
In addition to detailing these bug fixes, Hello Games also details a bunch of workarounds for No Man’s Sky for the time being for most of the issues mentioned above, including the alt-tab bug, the framerate issues and texture flickering.
Hello Games notes that PC players can access the Experimental branch beta by right-clicking the game from the Steam library page and selecting properties, then the “BETAS” tab.
To access the Experimental branch right-click on the game from the library page and select “Properties”. Among the available tabs will be the “BETAS” tab. The code for the beta access is 3xperimental.
Hello Games also encourages PC players to continue to email them any issues with the game at this time.
