Today in the preshow to the Sony PlayStation Event at Paris Games Week Sony started off their event with the announcement of Guacamelee! 2 and saying that's it's soonish and coming to PlayStation 4.

As they shared more information, Guacemlee! 2 takes place seven years after the original game, as Juan Aguacate is living a happy life with his family when his old friend Uay Chivo turns up to share grave news. A new evil menace has been found that threatens to destroy all of time and space - and that happens to include Mexico!

Guacamelee! 2 brings some new things to the mix, beyond new levels, enemies and the stuff you'd expect for a sequel. One of the key points here is that Guacamelee! 2 brings 4 player local co-op expanding on the feature from the first game which had some local co-op. Beyond that, there's a new hooking mechanic put in the game that they are calling 'Eagle Boost' because it lets you fly through 'boost points' in the environment. A lot of new environmental features, including dimensional waves are coming to mixup platforming and combat.

According to co-founder of drink box Graham Smith, there was a lot more emphasis on the chicken form in the sequel. They wanted it "to have more FOWL PLAY" as he put it, as the chicken form gets a unique set of abilities

Additionally, Guacamelee! 2 will feature a redesigned lighting system and will take advantage of the PlayStation 4 Pro with 4K and HDR support.

Guacamelee! 2 is said to be 'coming soon' although the event showed it was coming in 2018 - most likely early in the year with the coming soon information provided.
